COURSE DESCRIPTION
Commercial Art is a one-year program, which
covers the principles and practices of illustration and graphic design as they are used in advertising. The program teaches
design principles and illustration techniques using both conventional and computer-aided methods. Areas of study include airbrush,
logo/corporate identity development, layout and design, drawing skills, watercolor, marker, color pencil techniques, computer
graphics skills using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign software, business and research procedures, client negotiations,
and pricing and ethical guidelines.
PREREQUISITES:
Initiative,
interest, and commitment as well as some basic drawing skills. Students should have completed 2D and 3D art courses prior
to taking the Maxwell Commercial Art course.
